On the AutotopiaLA channel, the team showcases a remarkable 1971 Mercedes 600 Pullman built around the platform, drivetrain, and interior of a modern Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance hybrid.
Rather than restoring the classic limousine to factory condition, the builders transformed it into a unique blend of vintage Mercedes design and modern AMG technology.
Merging two generations of Mercedes engineering created a long list of challenges. The original Pullman body required extensive modification to fit the modern platform, many exterior components had to be custom-built, and the project spent months stuck in limp mode because of a difficult electronic fault linked to the hybrid rear differential system.
After finally solving the electronic issues, the team was able to experience the car as intended. From the outside it still looks like a luxury limousine from the early 1970s, but underneath it delivers the performance, handling, and refinement of a modern AMG hybrid, creating one of the most unusual Mercedes builds featured by S Club.
